Adjusting to Life in the U.S.
A Year’s Worth of Mentoring Activities | 52 ideas - one for each week of the year.
Housing Orientation | With a guide available in several languages, talk together about how to maintain an apartment, safety and security, mail and notices, being a good neighbor, energy conservation, and more!
Library visit | Show your mentee family how to use the local library, and help them obtain library cards. The library is a wonderful resource for borrowing books, movies, etc., free of charge. Introduce your mentee to the other resources available like computer access (especially if not available in their home).
Read mail | Your mentee may or may not be aware that they have a mailbox and should check it daily. Help them get in the routine, and take time to explain about bills and important documents and what action must be taken.
